Using Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Computer Use for SEO
Explore how you can use Anthropic’s new computer-use feature to make SEO tasks easier, with real examples to show you how it’s done!
Introduction - What is Computer-Use?
Anthropic’s new computer-use is an experimental feature that allows you to use Claude 3.5 Sonnet to interact with desktop environments to perform various tasks. This new computer-use feature allows Claude to simulate user interactions and automate tasks, so it can also assist in SEO (search engine optimization) analysis, making it a powerful tool for enhancing website performance.
New AI (artificial intelligence) tools like this have the potential to significantly enhance SEO and website performance through automation. The new computer-use feature is still experimental, but it could be used in the future to automate SEO tasks, simulate user interactions, and analyze competitor strategies.
By leveraging these capabilities, Claude may help identify content gaps, optimize on-page elements, and improve overall user experience, leading to better search rankings!
However, as this feature is very new and still in beta/experimental, its full potential for SEO remains to be explored.
In this blog we will be going through some examples of potential future use-cases for computer-use. You can test these examples right now, just keep in mind that this a very new feature and may not always work as expected. Regardless, it is pretty cool!
Check out Anthropic’s Docs to learn more or their quick start guide on GitHub
When referring to “Claude” in this blog, it will be in the context of using it within computer-use, not through the web portal or API.
Example 1: Competitor Content Analysis Automation
Overview
Competitor analysis involves researching and evaluating the SEO strategies of your competitors to understand what is helping them succeed. It includes identifying the keywords they rank for, examining their content strategy, and learning how they structure their content.
- Competitor analysis is crucial for SEO because it helps you identify gaps in your own strategy, discover opportunities, and make informed decisions to improve your website’s search engine ranking, especially for specific search terms.
Anthropic’s computer-use feature can automate this process by simulating user interactions and performing tasks such as keyword research, content analysis for a given website.
Claude can generate detailed reports comparing your website to competitors, highlighting areas for improvement and offering actionable insights to enhance SEO performance.
By automating this process, it can save significant time and provide a more comprehensive analysis than manual methods or web crawlers.
Example Scenario 1 - “portable cold tub”
Say, for example, you run a cold plunge company such as Kryo Health and Wellness and you notice that you do not appear in the search results when searching for: portable cold tub
.
- Traditionally you would have to manually analyze the search results, gather your findings, and compare with your existing website/products pages.
- Or… hire an expensive marketing agency to perform the same tasks.
Using the new computer-use feature, you could instruct it to analyze the top-ranking pages for specific search terms:
You are an Seo expert. Your job is to navigate to google and search for the term: "portable cold tub" and perform a a competitor Seo analysis on the top 3 results (ignoring search ads and shopping-ads). You will analyze the content of these webpages and summarize your findings into a well strucutred report in markdown format. In the report, include the website url, product summary, top 3-5 keywords, and other interesting content related findings.

Example 2: Technical SEO Audits
Overview
A technical SEO audit is a comprehensive evaluation of a website’s technical infrastructure, including elements like meta tags, alt text, site speed, mobile usability, and crawlability. The goal of a technical SEO audit is to identify and fix issues that may be hindering the website’s performance in regards to search engine results.
By improving the technical foundation, the website can achieve better search visibility, faster load times, and an overall enhanced user experience.
To learn more, check out our article on Technical Seo Audits here…
Claude’s computer-use feature can be used to perform technical SEO audits by automating the evaluation of various technical elements of your website.
For example, you can ask it to analyze meta tags, titles, headings, schema markup, and page speed, identifying any issues that may be impacting your site’s technical SEO.
By automating these tasks, Claude can save significant time and help you fix technical SEO issues without the help of a third party or service.
Example Scenario 2 - “Perform a Technical SEO Audit”
Lets again use Kryo Health and Wellness as an example. Lets assume they recently redesigned their website and are wanting to ensure it includes all the necessary technical seo elements.
Using the new computer-use feature, they could instruct it to analyze their new homepage:
You are a technical SEO expert. Your job is to navigate to "https://thekryo.com/" and perform a technical SEO analysis on the redesigned homepage. Use a combination of the page (via screenshots/visual), page source, and page inspection to complete your analysis. First create a summary of the page using the content to get an idea what this page is about.
Your analysis should include the title-tag, meta-description, headings (h1, h2, h3, h4, h5) content and structure, schema markup, and any other interesting page elements that may be hindering the SEO from a technical perspective. Your analysis is limited to this single page so do not make assumptions about other pages. Focus on optimizing this page to improve its search ranking.
Once the analsis is compelte create a report titled: "Kryo Homepage Technical SEO Audit" using markdown formatting. For each item include: current status, issues, effect on seo, details recommendations, and examples.
- Keep in mind that we can add more specific details or examples to this prompt based on website type (business, product, blog, etc…) to fine tune the technical SEO audit.

Example 3: User Testing Simulation
Overview
User testing is an essential part of optimizing website performance, as it provides direct insights into how real users interact with your site. There are many services and software products that recruit and pay users to test applications.
This helps to gather crucial information about user-friendliness, usability, and potential areas for improvement.
This feedback is invaluable for identifying pain points, improving user experience, and ultimately enhancing SEO by ensuring that visitors have a positive and intuitive experience on your website.
For example if a users struggle to find information, due to unclear navigation or missing service pricing, they may leave the site. This leads to high bounce rates, which can negatively impact SEO by signaling to search engines that the content is not meeting user needs. By understanding user behavior, you can address these issues, create a clear structure, and improve engagement.
Example Scenario 3 - “Test my website as user”
Lets again assume you run Kryo Health and Wellness and noticed in your Google Analytics portal that your “Average engagement time per active user” is very low, roughly 8 seconds. This means that people who come to your website are not staying for long - they are basically loading your page then leaving.
So you want to know if there are issues with your homepage or content that is causing this low engagement. You can create a prompt like so:
You are a normal person who is interested in cold plunges and are looking to potentially to buy one. Ensure you are very honest and detailed.
You job is to navigate to "https://thekryo.com/" and view/scroll the entire page, just an interested person would. As you scroll, analyze the page content, keeping track of the negative and postive aspects of the page from a content perspective. Once you complete this "user simulation", create a report titled: "Kyro User Test" using markdown formatting. The report should include a detailed summary of what you thought the website was about, positives of the page, negatives of the page, potential improvements, a rating out of 100, and note whether you would buy a product from this company or not.
View the sample Kyro User Testing Report below:

- Financing options available ($73/mo mentioned)
- Free shipping offer displayed prominently
5. Customer Trust Elements

- Comprehensive footer with links to important policies
- Professional social media presence
## Negatives
1. Pricing Transparency
- Full prices not immediately visible

- Need to dig deeper to find complete pricing information
2. Pop-up Interruption

- Persistent even after dismissal
3. Technical Details
- Limited immediate access to detailed specifications
- Could use more detailed information about maintenance requirements
- Water capacity not immediately visible
- Power consumption details not readily available

8. Add a FAQ section on the main page
9. Improve the popup management system
10. Add more specific product dimension information
## Rating: 88/100
The website effectively communicates its premium product offering and maintains a professional appearance. The increase in rating from my previous assessment comes from discovering additional trust elements and customer support options in the footer, as well as the comprehensive payment options available.
## Would I Buy?
As someone interested in cold plunges, I would be seriously interested in purchasing this product, but I would want to:
1. Research the full pricing details
2. Read more user reviews
3. Understand the maintenance requirements
4. Compare it with traditional ice bath solutions
5. Verify the warranty details (which I noticed is available in the footer)
The technology and convenience factor are very appealing, particularly the:
- No-ice required system
- WiFi connectivity
- Clean water management
- Temperature control precision
- Portable nature of the product
The professional presentation, clear technological advantages, and comprehensive support structure make it a strong contender. The addition of free shipping and various payment options adds to the appeal. While the price point seems premium (based on the monthly payment amounts), the convenience and technology factors could justify the investment for someone serious about cold therapy.
The website has successfully convinced me that this is a premium, well-thought-out product, though I would want to make sure I understand the full cost of ownership before making a final decision.
Benefits
One of the key advantages of using computer-use for user testing is the ability to customize the user persona in the prompt to fit specific needs.
- This allows you to test a variety of scenarios with different types of users, such as frustrated users, beginners, or advanced users.
By simulating these different personas, you can gain insights into how various user types interact with your website, identify potential usability issues, and ensure that your website meets the needs of all users.
This is a great way to perform user testing if you have a limited audience or user-base for your website or application. It can help give you a starting to improve the user experience, without having to wait for users.
